Sydney Sweeney to play James Bond is rumoured after filmmaker Paul Feig backed her as a potential replacement for Daniel Craig, with casting for the next 007 still unconfirmed.

Sydney Sweeney rumoured to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond

Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney is being rumoured as a surprise choice to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.

Craig stepped away from the franchise after No Time to Die in 2021. Since then, the search for a new 007 has continued without a confirmed replacement.

The latest suggestion comes from filmmaker Paul Feig, who believes Sweeney could take on the role of the famous spy.

Speaking to The Sun, Feig said:

“I’d rather Sydney be the next Bond.”

He added:

“There have been some cool Bond girls, but come on, let her be the super-spy, she’s great.”

Feig also praised her skills and professionalism, saying:

“She’s one of the hardest-working people I know, so professional, so smart, so savvy. I think she’d be a good spy.”

Sweeney has not been officially linked to the role by producers, and no casting decision has been made.

The Bond franchise remains in development, with several names still being discussed for the lead role. Among them are Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, Idris Elba and Jacob Elordi.

Denis Villeneuve is already attached to direct the next film, while production continues under Amazon MGM Studios following its takeover of the franchise rights.
