Nigeria vs Morocco: NFF should have petitioned CAF over referees — Tacha

Reality TV star Tacha has blamed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the outcome of Wednesday, January 14, semi-final match between Nigeria and Morocco, insisting that the NFF petitioned CAF referees could have prevented the controversial officiating.

The Super Eagles lost to Morocco in a penalty shootout, a defeat that has sparked widespread criticism of the match officials.

Reacting on her Instagram page, Tacha described the NFF as a “very unserious organisation” and argued that they should have acted immediately when they learned that the referees were from Ghana and South Africa.

According to her, simply filing a petition would have put the referees on notice and ensured a fairer game.

“The @thenff is a very unserious organization. Two referees from rival countries, Ghana and South Africa,  how?? The moment those referees were announced, the NFF petitioned CAF referees should have been our first move! And even if CAF refused to change them, the petition alone would have put the officials on check,” she wrote.

Tacha added that the match was poorly officiated, with unnecessary fouls disrupting the rhythm of play. “This wasn’t ‘home advantage,’” she said. “This was shambolic officiating, and the NFF petitioned CAF referees could have prevented it.

If the NFF acts now and demands a review, it will protect the credibility of African football.”
