The Obalende under-bridge makeover project in Lagos has officially begun, signaling a major transformation of the once crime-prone area into a modern, safe, and commuter-friendly transport hub.

The redevelopment will feature a regulated bus terminal, over 60 public toilet facilities, kiosks, dedicated security posts, a LAWMA road camp, and a recycling drop-off station, ensuring the space is clean, secure, and functional for daily commuters. Solar-powered lighting will enhance visibility at night, while CCTV coverage will strengthen security to prevent criminal activities.

A biodigester system will manage wastewater efficiently, and the project includes a dedicated recycling station to discourage illegal dumping.

Additionally, tree planting and environmentally-friendly infrastructure align the makeover with Lagos’ climate goals, making the Obalende under-bridge makeover project a sustainable urban renewal effort.
