Why some UTME candidates are seeing ‘no result yet’ — JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has explained why some candidates checking their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results are seeing the message, “No Result Yet.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board said the development affects underage candidates whose results have not been released.

According to JAMB, when such candidates attempt to check their results, the system is designed to return the “No Result Yet” message.

The board reiterated that only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are eligible to register for and sit the UTME.

However, it noted that exceptions exist for candidates considered academically outstanding.

JAMB explained that underage candidates may still be considered under a special category, but must meet strict requirements, including scoring at least 320 in the UTME and attaining a minimum of 80 per cent in subsequent screening stages.

It added that only candidates who meet the 320 benchmark will be shortlisted for further screening.

The board said the condition aligns with an agreement reached with parents of underage candidates, noting that only those who meet the set criteria will proceed to the next stage.

For now, JAMB maintained that the results of underage candidates will remain withheld pending the completion of the screening process.
