A domestic dispute between two lovers in Mncitsini, Swaziland, has escalated into a serious criminal case involving allegations of assault and arson.
32-year-old Nosipho Motsa is accused of setting her boyfriend Nkosingiphile Hleta’s flat on fire following an argument over alcohol and money that reportedly turned violent.
The incident was said to have followed an earlier confrontation, during which Hleta, 43, allegedly assaulted Motsa.
Authorities said the fire destroyed property and nearly resulted in tragedy after Motsa allegedly locked herself inside the burning flat in what appeared to be an attempt to take her own life.
Neighbours, however, intervened and forced their way into the apartment, rescuing her before the situation worsened.
Both Motsa and Hleta appeared in court on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, and are expected to face charges related to the incident.
