Why I avoid distractions, womanising in music industry – Lojay

Nigerian singer Lekan Osifeso popularly known as Lojay has spoken about the importance of discipline in the music industry, revealing why he deliberately avoids distractions and womanising as he builds his career.

The “Monalisa” crooner made this known during an appearance on the I Said What I Said podcast, where he reflected on his early assumptions about fame and the realities he later encountered in the entertainment space.

Lojay admitted that when he first imagined life as a pop star, he believed it would come with the freedom to enjoy attention from women.

However, he said his perspective changed after gaining deeper exposure to the industry.

According to him, the entertainment world presents several temptations, but long-term success requires restraint and focus.

“There is a lot of temptation in the music industry. You will see a lot of things, but you are not meant to touch.

“I used to think I would frolic with a lot of ladies because there are babes everywhere. But when you have about 100 girls talking to you, that is when you need to cultivate discipline,” he said.

He added that sustaining a successful career, like some of the industry’s top artistes, requires avoiding unnecessary distractions.

“I realised if you want a long career like the Big 3, you have to stay away from too many girls,” he added.

The singer also noted that one of his biggest cultural shocks was discovering that the glamorous lifestyles often associated with mainstream artistes are not as carefree as they appear from the outside.

He explained that many musicians are more disciplined than people assume, as they are constantly conscious of their actions and public image.

Lojay added that his personality has also helped him remain grounded, especially in avoiding excessive indulgence and maintaining a focused lifestyle.
