Senator Solomon Adeola has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election in Ogun State.

The announcement was made on Monday by Governor Dapo Abiodun during a stakeholders’ meeting, where party leaders agreed on Adeola’s candidacy.

Speaking after the endorsement, the lawmaker, popularly known as Yayi, expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for the confidence reposed in him, promising to build on existing achievements and move the state forward.

“I sincerely thank all my leaders and party members for this great opportunity bestowed upon me today,” Adeola said.

He also acknowledged the contributions and sacrifices of other aspirants, stressing the importance of unity within the party ahead of the 2027 polls.

“Now is the time for all the sacrifices that my brothers have put together to ensure this day comes to pass. I believe in oneness and the unity of our dear state and Ogun West by extension,” he added.

Adeola outlined his vision for Ogun State, describing it as a key driver of Nigeria’s industrial growth and one of the fastest-growing economies in the country. He pledged to sustain the state’s economic momentum and strengthen its position as an industrial hub.

“I know the vision for this state and how central it is to the Federal Republic of Nigeria in maintaining its status as the most industrialised state,” he said.

The senator assured party stakeholders that he would uphold peace, continuity, and progress in governance, noting that he remains committed to preserving the gains recorded under the current administration.

“I will not let you down. I promise to retain and maintain the unity, peace and progress that has taken place in Ogun State in recent years. I can assure you I will not derail,” he stated.

Adeola further pledged to unify party members across all political alignments, describing the APC as “one big irreversible family.”

“I will do my utmost best to keep every member of our great party together, irrespective of our political alignment,” he said.

Declaring the beginning of a new phase for the state, Adeola added, “I want to assure you that a new Ogun State is born. I will keep the flag flying and the flame on.”

In his remarks, Governor Abiodun commended party leaders and stakeholders for their cooperation and unity, which he said made the consensus decision possible.
