Adedeji Adeleke, father of popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has spoken publicly on the long-running paternity controversy involving his son, maintaining that a DNA test had already confirmed that Davido is not the biological father of a girl identified as Anu Adeleke.
Addressing journalists at a press briefing in Lagos on Wednesday, Adeleke said the issue dates back to 2014, when he received a letter from a lawyer alleging that Davido had impregnated a woman, Ayo Labinjoh, and abandoned the child.
He explained that he personally ordered a DNA test after receiving a formal complaint from the child’s maternal grandmother.

According to him, the test was conducted at a hospital in Lekki, Lagos, where saliva samples were collected from both Davido and the child and subsequently sent to South Africa for analysis.
Adeleke said the results showed a zero per cent probability of paternity, confirming that the singer was not the child’s father.
He added that both the child’s mother and grandmother were present during the test and jointly signed to receive the results.
The billionaire businessman further disclosed that his family offered to conduct two additional confirmatory DNA tests at reputable medical facilities of the accusers’ choice and even proposed to cover their accommodation expenses in Lagos throughout the process, but the offer was later declined.

He also alleged that the child’s grandmother later accused Davido of bribing hospital officials to manipulate the test results, a claim he described as baseless.
Adeleke said the matter later resurfaced through repeated social media campaigns allegedly driven by controversial social media personality, Kemi Olunloyo, who he claimed took over the case.
He further revealed that in 2020, another relative of the child reached out to reopen discussions on further DNA testing.
According to him, he welcomed the request and suggested an independent test at a clinic of their choice to finally put the issue to rest.
