US visa crackdown: Shehu Sani advises Nigerians to return home immediately

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has told Nigerians and other Africans whose US visas were recently revoked to start packing their bags and head back home before immigration officers catch up with them.

Posting on his X (formerly Twitter) page on Monday, Sani didn’t mince words as he warned that living abroad doesn’t make anyone forget where they truly belong.

He said: “Nigerians and other thousands of Africans whose visas were recently revoked by President Trump should hasten and leave the country and return home before they get arrested by ICE.

No matter how long you live in the comfort of your adopted home, you will someday be reminded that it’s not your father’s house.”

Reports say President Donald Trump’s government has cancelled more than 80,000 visas since January 2025 double the number from last year.

The US State Department explained that the revoked visas include 16,000 for driving under the influence, 12,000 for assault, and 8,000 student visas, among others.

It also listed other reasons like terrorism links, overstaying visas, public safety issues, and criminal offences.

In short, Shehu Sani is telling folks to come back home before “Uncle ICE” comes knocking.
