Operatives of the Ibafo Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two security guards over the alleged killing of a traveller identified simply as Promise in Ibafo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, Isikilu Dauda and Rasaki Abbas, were said to have attacked the victim with machetes after he arrived in the community late at night.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said officers acted on a tip-off, rescued the victim, and rushed him to a hospital for urgent medical attention.

He, however, noted that the victim was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending doctor.
According to Babaseyi, the body has been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, for autopsy.
He explained that the incident occurred on April 10, 2026, at about 7:00 a.m., adding that while being taken to the hospital, the victim managed to identify himself and alleged that he was attacked by security guards shortly after arriving in the area the previous night.
Preliminary findings by the police revealed a trail of blood leading to one of the suspects, which aided his arrest, while further investigation led to the capture of the second suspect.
The spokesperson added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects who are currently at large.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and assured that all those involved would be brought to justice.
