Marriage scandal: Pastor Chris Okafor takes temporary break from ministry

Pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of Grace Nation International, popularly known as Liberation City, has announced a temporary break from his ministerial duties amid a marriage scandal and related allegations.

The cleric revealed the decision during the New Year service on Thursday, stating that four pastors under his leadership would take over ministry activities throughout January 2026. Pastor Chris Okafor ministry will be managed by Pastor Sylvester, Pastor Kelvin, Pastor Oliver, and Shadrach, who will conduct Sunday services in his absence.

Okafor explained that the break is also a time for personal rest and reflection with his wife, noting that they had not taken a proper honeymoon since their wedding. He emphasized that Pastor Chris Okafor ministry remains active and fully operational, even as he steps back temporarily.

While some speculate that the hiatus is linked to ongoing allegations and the marriage scandal, Pastor Okafor has not confirmed this as the reason. Instead, he encouraged the congregation to embrace the prophetic Sundays led by the four pastors.

“Pastor Chris Okafor ministry will continue uninterrupted,” he assured, “and this period allows me to focus on spiritual renewal and family time.”
