The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and temporary road closures across major parts of the state ahead of the commissioning of key infrastructure projects.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged motorists to plan their journeys ahead and avoid affected routes during the scheduled periods to minimise delays and congestion.
He explained that the partial closures are necessary to ensure public safety and allow for the smooth execution of the inauguration activities.

According to the statement, the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be inaugurated on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Traffic disruptions are expected around Opebi-Allen, Ikeja and Ojota during the period, with motorists advised to use alternative routes.
On Thursday, April 9, two separate commissioning events will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
The first is the inauguration of the Tolu Schools Complex, which is expected to affect traffic around Olodi-Apapa and Ajegunle. Road users in the area have been advised to make prior arrangements.
Later that day, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., another event will be held at Eko Hotel in Victoria Island, with motorists warned to expect heavy traffic and consider alternative routes.
The government added that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other traffic personnel will be deployed to manage movement and ease congestion.
Motorists were also urged to comply with traffic directives and cooperate with officials to ensure smooth traffic flow during the exercise.
