Foluke Adeboye, wife of Enoch Adeboye, has revealed how she threw away her gold jewellery after becoming a born-again Christian.
In a resurfaced throwback video, she recounted how her love for fashion once shaped her lifestyle before joining the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
According to her, the church’s doctrine at the time discouraged the use of earrings, prompting her to give up her prized possessions.
“Every woman loves fashion. The moment we were born again then in RCCG, it was a taboo for you to have earrings. So everything, I dropped it in the lagoon,” she said.

Foluke added that the items she discarded included jewellery she had set aside for her child, a decision that surprised some people around her.
She recalled how a family acquaintance questioned why she did not give the items to her mother to sell instead.
“Whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother,” she replied.
Reflecting on the experience, she said she has no regrets about the decision, noting, “I don’t miss anything, not much.”
