Champions League: Chelsea thrash 10-man Barca 3-0

Chelsea delivered a ruthless Champions League performance on Wednesday night, dismantling 10-man Barcelona 3–0 in London to underline their growing authority in the competition. The Blues controlled the match from start to finish, overwhelming the Spanish champions with intensity, discipline and a moment of brilliance from teenage sensation Estevao.

The breakthrough came in the first half when Pedro Neto’s strike deflected off Jules Kounde and into the Barcelona net. Ronald Araujo’s second yellow card shortly before the interval left Barcelona a man short and struggling to cope with Chelsea’s pressure.

Estevao capped Chelsea’s dominance early in the second half, gliding inside before smashing a powerful shot beyond Pau Cubarsi to double the lead. Substitute Liam Delap later added a third after a VAR review confirmed the goal and sealed a resounding victory.

Marc Cucurella earned player of the match honours after neutralising Lamine Yamal and helping Chelsea record the first clean sheet any club has kept against Barcelona in 53 matches.

Estevao described the night as “the most special moment” of his career, telling Amazon Prime: “I don’t really have any words… It really was the perfect night.”

Cucurella added: “Estevao has a lot of personality and quality… He’s a special guy, and we have good people in the dressing room to help him improve.”

Enzo Maresca’s decision to start without a traditional striker, using Neto as a false nine, proved effective as Chelsea dominated all phases of play.

The win strengthens Chelsea’s Champions League campaign as they head into Sunday’s Premier League clash with leaders Arsenal full of confidence.
