Arsenal lose at home to Man United as the Red Devils come from behind to secure a 3–2 Premier League win at the Emirates, handing the leaders their first home defeat of the season and cutting the gap in the title race.

Arsenal title hopes take a hit, lose at home to Man United

Arsenal’s Premier League title push suffered a setback on Sunday night as Manchester United came from behind to beat the leaders 3–2 at the Emirates Stadium.

The defeat was Arsenal’s first home loss of the 2025/26 league season and cut their lead at the top of the table to four points, keeping the title race firmly alive.

Mikel Arteta’s side started strongly and took the lead in the 29th minute when Jurrien Timber finished from close range after a defensive error by Lisandro Martinez.

Manchester United responded before the break. A misplaced pass in midfield allowed Bruno Fernandes to release Bryan Mbeumo, who finished calmly past David Raya to make it 1–1 at half-time.

The visitors went ahead early in the second half through Patrick Dorgu, whose powerful half-volley from distance stunned the home crowd.

Arsenal briefly restored hope when Mikel Merino equalised from inside the box as the hosts pushed forward in search of a winner.

That push proved costly.

With space opening up, Matheus Cunha struck from range to score United’s third and decisive goal, sealing a vital win for the visitors.

Despite the loss, Arsenal remain top of the Premier League, but Manchester City and Aston Villa have closed the gap to four points.

Manchester United climbed to fourth place and have now won both league matches under interim manager Michael Carrick.

Ahead of the match, Carrick insisted his focus was on current form rather than past results.

“The confidence I’m taking is what we’ve seen since I’ve been here,” Carrick said. “Those games from years ago are in the past. This is a different moment.”

United left the Emirates with all three points, while Arsenal were left to reflect on a result that could weigh heavily on their title ambitions.
