Matawalle denies bribery allegation involving US official, labels claim ‘baseless’

The Office of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has rejected allegations circulating online that he attempted to bribe a United States official, describing the claims as unfounded and politically driven.

In a statement issued by his Personal Assistant on Media, Ahmad Dan-Wudil, the minister’s office said it had observed reports linking the allegation to a supposed account by the United World Congress of Diplomats.

The statement noted that the claims were attributed to Kimberly Daniels, a Democratic lawmaker representing Florida’s 14th District, but maintained that the accusations lack credibility and are not supported by any verifiable evidence.

It added that Matawalle remains committed to his duties at the Ministry of Defence and will not be distracted by what it termed malicious propaganda.

Reaffirming his stance, the statement said the minister remains focused and resolute, urging members of the public to disregard the allegations.

The office also reiterated Matawalle’s commitment to integrity, diligence and service to the nation.
