Blues in freefall: Chelsea lose 3-0 to Brighton for fifth consecutive defeat

Chelsea’s crisis deepened on Tuesday night after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium, marking their fifth consecutive Premier League loss without scoring.

Brighton made a fast start to the encounter, with Ferdi Kadioglu putting the hosts ahead inside four minutes. The home side maintained control throughout the match and doubled their advantage after the break through Jack Hinshelwood, before Danny Welbeck sealed the win with a stoppage-time goal.

Chelsea struggled to impose themselves in attack, with long spells of disjointed play and little threat in the final third. The result highlights a worrying dip in form, with the Blues now failing to score in five straight league matches — a run not seen in over a century.

The defeat also has major implications in the race for European qualification. Brighton move above Chelsea into sixth place, strengthening their push for continental football, while Chelsea’s campaign continues to unravel at a critical stage.

Alejandro Garnacho came closest for the visitors with two second-half attempts, but Brighton remained in control and deservedly secured all three points.

Chelsea now turn their attention to the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday against Leeds United, where pressure will continue to mount on the squad to respond.
