A woman who was heavily pregnant died over the weekend in Anambra State after falling while trying to escape a stray cow during a burial ceremony.
The incident happened in Oba community, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The woman, identified as Omalicha, reportedly fell while running from the cow, which had broken loose during the event.
A Facebook post said the cow suddenly became uncontrollable, causing panic among people at the burial. Attendees were said to have run in different directions to avoid being injured.
In the confusion, the pregnant woman attempted to leave the area but fell and died as a result.

The incident was shared on Facebook on Saturday, April 18, 2026, by her friend, Chinazor Peace Anyadiegwu, who said she had seen the deceased just hours before her death while she was with her children.
Anyadiegwu described the news as shocking.
She also said the situation at the burial became chaotic when the cow broke free, leading to people scrambling for safety.
The fall occurred during that moment of panic, leading to the woman’s death.
The incident has left people in the community in shock, with sympathisers continuing to visit and console the family.
