American pop artist Miley Cyrus has confirmed her engagement to drummer Maxx Morando, sharing fresh details on April 17, 2026, about a private proposal that followed their four-year relationship.
The singer revealed that Morando proposed during a trip to Japan, a moment she said completely caught her off guard despite her usual need for control.
“I am not easy to surprise, because I love to control every situation. And I had completely surrendered,” she said in an interview with ABC News.
The engagement became public after Cyrus appeared with her ring at the premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash in Hollywood in December 2025. The custom piece, designed by jeweller Jacquie Aiche, features a cushion-cut diamond set on a 14-karat yellow gold band.

Cyrus and Morando first met on a blind date in late 2021 and confirmed their relationship in April 2022. Speaking previously to British Vogue, the singer noted the date was not entirely mutual.
“Well, it was blind for me and not really for him,” she said.
Reflecting on her relationship, Cyrus said it has brought a sense of stability and respect, contrasting it with her past marriage to Liam Hemsworth.
“I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me. I had to learn that the hard way,” she said.
The couple, who have lived together in Malibu since 2024, are now said to be planning a smaller, private wedding ceremony.
