Suspected motorcycle robbers attacked a teacher, Isah Sallama, in Bunkure Local Government Area of Kano State, leaving him seriously injured after severing his hand.
The incident was disclosed in a statement by Nasiru Habu Faragai of the Rano Emirate Council, who said the attack occurred on Wednesday night along Funkuyi Road in Buran District.
Sallama, a resident of Sarkin Bakar Rano, was reportedly trying to assist another victim, Malam Sauwanu Hadi, whose motorcycle and phone were being snatched by the assailants at the time.

According to the statement, the attackers initially attempted to shoot Sallama, but their firearm failed to discharge. They then resorted to using a machete, with which they inflicted severe injuries on him.
The incident was reported by the District Head of Bunkure, Alhaji Aminu Isa Umaru, to the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Isa Umaru.
Reacting to the attack, the emir condemned the act and directed security agencies to launch an investigation into the incident. He also approved a donation of N100,000 to support the victim’s medical treatment.
The monarch further called on community leaders and security agencies to intensify efforts to tackle robbery and other criminal activities in the area.
