Pretty Mike reopens nightclub after NDLEA raid

Lagos socialite and nightclub owner, Mike Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, has announced the reopening of his nightclub, Proxy Lagos, nearly seven months after it was raided by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

In a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, the nightlife entrepreneur reflected on the personal and professional challenges he faced following the raid, which came around the same period he lost his father.

“It’s been a minute since I’ve been on this space. There comes a moment in life when everything pauses,” he said, describing the period as one of deep reflection.

Speaking on his loss, Pretty Mike said burying his father, whom he described as his hero, marked a turning point for him.

He admitted the experience left him emotionally shaken, beyond the public image many associate with him.

“Beyond the lights and the grand entrance, I’m still human, and that event broke me in ways I’m still trying to understand,” he added, noting that he eventually returned to rebuild his business.

Recounting the impact of the NDLEA raid, he described it as a “storm” that disrupted not just his business but also affected his team, partners, and clients.

“My name was dragged, my brand smeared, and doors were shut against me,” he said.

Despite the setback, Pretty Mike said the experience taught him resilience and faith, stressing that hardship does not define one’s destiny.

Announcing the reopening, he said the clearance to resume operations marks more than just a business revival.

“Proxy has been cleared to reopen. This is not just about me; it’s about all of us rebuilding what we created. Proxy is more than a nightclub — it’s a culture and a vibe,” he said, calling on supporters to be part of the comeback

In the caption accompanying the video, he expressed gratitude to those who stood by him during what he described as a “season of heavy silence.”

“Seven months ago, my world fell apart… but I’m returning with a heart full of gratitude. I am back, blessed, and rebuilding,” he wrote.

The NDLEA had raided the nightclub in the early hours of October 26, 2025, following intelligence reports of a planned “drug party.”

Over 100 suspects, including Pretty Mike and former Big Brother Naija housemate Tuoyo Ideh, were arrested.

The agency said cartons of illicit substances, including Loud and laughing gas, were recovered during the operation.

Subsequently, the NDLEA filed a forfeiture suit against the club, while Pretty Mike and a supervisor were arraigned on charges bordering on conspiracy and unlawful possession.

He was later granted bail in the sum of N50 million by a Federal High Court in Lagos.
