A driver has been arrested after police found bones and other items believed to be human remains in a red cloth inside a commercial vehicle on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
The Federal Highway Patrol officers made the discovery during a routine stop-and-search near Guru Maharaji Village in Oyo State, the state police spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, said in a statement on Sunday.
The driver, Kazeem Ayegbo, was travelling from Lagos to Osogbo when he was stopped and searched.

“A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a red cloth containing bones and other items suspected to be parts of a human corpse, concealed among the luggage,” the statement said.
Osifeso said the police have begun investigations to find out where the items came from and who is involved. He added that the case is being investigated beyond Oyo State.
The driver will be charged in court once the investigation is completed.
The police urged the public to provide credible information to aid the investigation.
