Chelsea’s late goal rescued a 1-1 draw at Manchester City, handing Arsenal a valuable boost in the Premier League title race. Enzo Fernandez bundled in a stoppage-time equaliser to cancel out Tijjani Reijnders’ first-half strike.
“It’s a team effort,” interim Chelsea manager Calum McFarlane said. “We stayed patient and showed character to get the goal right at the end.”
Chelsea, managed by McFarlane after Enzo Maresca’s shock New Year’s Day sacking, made five changes, including Moises Caicedo’s suspension and a goalkeeper swap with Filip Jorgensen replacing Robert Sanchez.

City dominated possession and created multiple chances, with Rodri producing a strong midfield display, but injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias disrupted their rhythm. Fernandez’s stoppage-time strike ensured Chelsea left the Etihad with a point, ending City’s eight-game home winning streak and extending Arsenal’s lead at the top to six points.
