BREAKING: Two dead as Anthony Joshua’s convoy crashes in Lagos-Ibadan

 

World-famous boxer Anthony Joshua was on Monday involved in a fatal road accident in Makun, Ogun State, which claimed the lives of two persons.

The crash occurred shortly after 11am along a busy stretch of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, eyewitnesses said.

According to witnesses, the Lexus SUV conveying Joshua rammed into a stationary truck under circumstances that are still being investigated.

A witness who participated in the rescue effort said Joshua sustained minor injuries, while two occupants of the vehicle died instantly at the scene.

Confirming details of the incident, Adeniyi Orojo said the accident happened just before Danco Filling Station in Makun, near the Sagamu Interchange, along the Ibadan-bound lane of the expressway.

“It was a two-vehicle convoy: a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Joshua was seated behind the driver, with another person beside him. There was also a passenger sitting beside the driver, making four occupants in the Lexus that crashed. His security detail was in the vehicle behind them before the crash,” Orojo said.

He added, “Other eyewitnesses and I began the rescue and flagged down oncoming vehicles to assist. A few minutes after the crash, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived. The passenger beside the driver and Joshua died on the spot.”
