Why I ended friendship with Burna Boy, unfollowed him — Zlatan Ibile

Popular Nigerian rapper, Zlatan Ibile, has opened up on why he ended his friendship with Grammy-winning artiste Burna Boy, and why the two no longer follow each other on social media.

The duo were once inseparable, sharing both music and brotherhood. Burna Boy even featured Zlatan in his 2019 hit “Killin Dem” from the African Giant album. But fans noticed their bond had cooled in recent years, sparking endless rumours of a fallout.

Now, Zlatan has finally broken his silence. In a post shared via his Instagram stories, the rapper revealed what really went wrong. According to him, their relationship began to change shortly after he welcomed his first child, Shiloh Toluwalase, on March 29, 2020, with his partner, Davita Lamai.

Excited about becoming a father, Zlatan said he had reached out to Burna Boy expecting warm congratulations. Instead, he got a cold response.

“I told Burna that my girl had a child,” Zlatan wrote. “Instead of congratulations, he asked if I knew what I was doing.”

That question, Zlatan hinted, hurt deeply and marked the beginning of distance between them.

Fans have since reacted strongly to the revelation. One user, @chasebeatzz, said:

“When someone shares good news, the first thing should be congratulations before any advice. Sometimes people don’t know how to show empathy.”

Another user, @chairman_watchtowers, added:

“First of all  congratulations! Anything else can come after that.”
