Nigerian indigenous rapper, Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide, has revealed that he is not desperate for international fame.
Speaking in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, the YBNL boss said he is content with his identity as an indigenous artist and has no intention of changing his sound or switching his style to appeal to a Western audience.
According to him, understanding and staying true to one’s audience is more important than seeking global validation.

He said, “You have to identify your audience. Once you identify your audience, the rest of the world will catch up eventually. So, I have to stay true to myself, no matter where it is or what it is. I have to stay true to myself.”
Olamide added that he takes pride in his Nigerian and Yoruba heritage, describing himself as comfortable in his own skin.
“I’m comfortable in my skin. I’m a Naija guy, Yoruba boy, I have H-factor and all that, and I’m proud of it. You just have to stay true to yourself,” he said.
