‘We are better off now’ — 2Baba speaks on Nigeria’s progress

Nigerian music star, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has said Nigeria is in a better position today compared to previous years, despite ongoing challenges.

He made this known during a recent interview on Wazobia TV, while reacting to concerns that issues highlighted in his classic song “E Be Like Say” are still recurring in the country’s political landscape.

The show host pointed out that Nigeria appears to be experiencing a repeat of the same political issues years after the song was released.

“Now we are back in that political season again, and the same issues are still happening,” the host said.

Responding, 2Baba acknowledged the concerns but insisted that there has been noticeable progress over time.

“We are better off than many years ago. Just look at it,” he said.

Speaking on speculations about his possible involvement in politics, the singer explained that he had previously participated in advocacy efforts that required him to remain neutral.

However, he expressed his intention to continue contributing to national development in his own way.

“It’s still ongoing, but I will continue doing it. I will set up my own position and try to make a difference. I’ll try to make it work because I know where I stand,” he said.

He added that he sees himself as a representative of Nigeria wherever he goes.

“I have personally appointed myself as an ambassador of Nigeria, an ambassador everywhere. I am a self-appointed ambassador of Nigeria to everywhere,” he added.
