Some Liverpool faithful saw it coming, some thought it was crucifixion day for the Reds, while others just want to sing the anthem, YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE, but in the end, the faihful sang the anthem like never before, the doubters were given a lifeline and until the next 90 minutes at the Etihad, Liverpool is officially one of the most feared teams in Europe.
The highlight of the Champions League encounter between the two best playing sides in England was that Manchester City, would be English Champions in couple of days time, may be in weeks, could not manage a shot at goal all night at Anfield.
Liverpool took time to grow into the game and it was going to look like a whitewash, but City trusted Liverpool’s youngster, Trent Anold to be overwhlemed and fumble more than they trusted their own tactics and it was evident in their concentration on Sane to pull an error from Trent, who is now the youngest English player to feature in a quarter final match in the Champions League.
Liverpool saw their chances and made it count and never softened pedal henceforth.

Trent was instrumental in the build up to Liverpool’s first goal and the trio of Salah, Mane and Firmino knew that missed chances are going to be punished and their prolific striking instincts were duly rewarded.
Little something to worry about for Liverpool though as their 38th goalmachine, Mohammed Salah limoed off the field and Captain Jordan Henderson also saw a yellow, which rules him out of the second leg next week. Baring in mind that Can and Lallana are also missing would have Jurgen Klopp break some sweat over the second leg and a Merseyside derby at the weekend.
With no away goal for Manchester City, it becomes even harder for them to upset a three goal deficit, but with an attacking arsenal and Liverpool’s fragile defence, everyone knows this tie is far from over.
But here are some of the glorious moments in pictures, video and commentaries about what the people said about a Liverpool team that looks like achieving more than their season’s target already.
