Two people were wounded in a shooting at Park Place Mall in Tucson, United States, on Wednesday evening, authorities said.
The Tucson Police Department said officers responded to reports of gunfire at about 7 p.m. and found two victims with gunshot injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment, although their conditions were not immediately made public.
Police clarified that the situation was “not an active shooter” case and described the incident as isolated.
Following the shooting, the mall was evacuated and temporarily closed as officers secured the area and began investigations. As of late Wednesday night, no suspects had been arrested, and no other injuries were reported.
A mall employee who witnessed the incident said the experience was frightening, adding that they hid for over an hour after hearing multiple gunshots.
“I was trying not to break down and run out the door or go hysterical because it was pretty nerve-racking when you don’t know what’s going on,” the worker said.
Authorities said investigators are speaking with several witnesses and urged anyone with useful information to contact emergency services.
