FC Barcelona delivered a dominant second-half performance to beat Newcastle United 7–2 on Wednesday night, sealing an 8–3 aggregate win and a place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
The tie was evenly balanced after a 1–1 first-leg draw. But Barcelona took full control after the break at Camp Nou.
Newcastle held their own in a lively first half. Anthony Elanga scored twice to cancel out goals from Raphinha and Marc Bernal.
The key moment came just before half-time. Lamine Yamal scored from the penalty spot after Kieran Trippier fouled Raphinha, giving Barcelona a 3–2 lead.
Barcelona pulled away quickly after the restart.
Fermín López made it four, before Robert Lewandowski scored twice to put the result beyond doubt.

Raphinha later added a seventh goal. He finished with two goals, two assists and won a penalty in a standout display.
Lewandowski’s brace took him to 108 Champions League goals. He now trails only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the all-time rankings.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said defensive errors cost his side.
“Our defending today was not at the level it was a few days ago,” Howe said.
“As well as we played in the first half, there were too many individual errors. The two set-plays are unforgiveable.”
On the penalty before half-time, he added: “We’re bang on half-time, we should be going in 2–2 with a great feeling… As it is, we’re going in with a negative feeling.”
The result is Newcastle’s heaviest European defeat in over a decade. It also matches the record for the most goals conceded by an English club in a major continental match.
Barcelona now move into the quarter-finals, where they are expected to face Atlético Madrid.
