Tinubu nominates Enugu’s Kingsley Ude as minister

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), from Enugu State, for appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The nomination was contained in a letter sent to the Senate and read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary. Akpabio subsequently referred the request to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation.

Dr. Ude, who currently serves as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Enugu State, was recently elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

His nomination follows the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology. Nnaji, who was Enugu State’s sole representative in the federal cabinet, resigned last month amid controversy surrounding his academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials said to have been obtained from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

With Ude’s nomination, President Tinubu moves to restore Enugu State’s representation in the Federal Executive Council, pending Senate approval.
