A key suspect linked to the gruesome murder of a Federal Road Safety Corps officer, SRC Lasisi Funmilayo Oluwamayokun, and her daughter, Sewa, has been arrested in Ghana.
The Eastern South Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest during a press briefing on Sunday, a video of which was shared by Channel One TV.
According to the Regional Commander, George Ohene-Boadi, the suspect, identified as Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, was traced to a friend’s residence in Akyem Wenchi, a suburb of Akwatia, where he had been hiding after allegedly fleeing Nigeria.
“Ohene-Boadi said the suspect was arrested based on intelligence following the interception of a viral video alleging that he abducted and murdered a woman who worked with the FRSC and her daughter in Abeokuta,” the police disclosed.
He added that operatives launched an intelligence-led operation after receiving reports that the suspect had crossed into Ghana to evade arrest by Nigerian authorities.
“The suspect is currently in police custody and frantic efforts are underway to hand him over to the Nigerian authorities,” the commander stated.
PUNCH Metro had earlier reported that the 39-year-old officer and her teenage daughter were declared missing on November 2 after leaving their residence at the Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Following days of unsuccessful attempts by family members and colleagues to reach them, police investigations led to the discovery of their mutilated bodies at a suspected herbalist’s den in Osun State.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command has said it will issue an official statement upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
