A father reportedly died of a heart attack after his three children were kidnapped in the recent Niger school abduction, as families struggle with fear and uncertainty.

Police confirm 10 farmers kidnapped in fresh Niger attack

The Nigeria Police Force, Niger State Command, has confirmed that 10 farmers were abducted by suspected bandits on Wednesday in Shiroro Local Government Area.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Minna.

According to him, the attackers entered Angwan-Kawo and Kuchipa villages at night and kidnapped at least 10 residents.

“On November 26, 2025 at about 8pm, report received indicated that suspected armed men abducted about ten persons from Angwan-Kawo & Kuchipa villages of Shiroro Local govt area,” he said.

He added that efforts were ongoing to secure their release.

“Effort is being emplaced to rescue the victims,” he assured.

Earlier, Streetnet reported that 303 students and 12 teachers were abducted during an attack on St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Papiri village, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State.

In a separate update, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State said on Sunday that 50 of the abducted pupils escaped and reunited with their families.
