The pilot and co-pilot of an Air Canada Express jet were killed after the aircraft collided with a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport late Sunday.
The CRJ-900 plane, operated by Jazz Aviation, had arrived from Montreal as flight AC8646 when it struck the emergency vehicle around 11:40 p.m., according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Officials said the fire truck was responding to a separate incident on the runway at the time.
The aircraft was carrying 76 people, including four crew members, based on a preliminary passenger list.
Several others were injured, though authorities have not confirmed the full number or severity.

The Federal Aviation Administration ordered a ground stop after the crash, halting all flights.
“The airport is currently closed to facilitate the response and allow for a thorough investigation,” the port authority said, adding that emergency protocols were “immediately activated.”
Flight tracking platform Flightradar24 said the plane “was rolling down the runway when it struck” the vehicle.
Air traffic control audio captured the tense moments before the crash, with a controller heard shouting, “Stop, stop, stop. Stop, Truck 1, stop.”
Investigations into the cause of the collision are ongoing.
