Self-acclaimed financial adviser and social media personality, GehGeh, has come under heavy criticism online after sharing photos of himself posing on a wooden cross a scene many described as mocking the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
The photos, which quickly went viral, drew outrage from several users who called the act disrespectful to Christians and the core of the faith.
Reacting to the backlash, GehGeh took to his page to clarify his intention, saying his message was about compassion and not religion.
He wrote:
“No let anybody deceive you, man no be God and our God is a merciful God. Na una put religion for head God no really send wetin una dey do, just have a good heart and worship him stop fighting for him.”
Despite his explanation, reactions continued to pour in across social media, with many users expressing anger and disappointment.
@KINSH200 wrote: “Christians don see shege for entertainment industry hand.”
@youngboyy04 added: “I want you to recreate a Muslim content like this please on a Friday morning.”
Another user, @Dalton_of_lagos, said: “40 years old man, is this what you’re doing with your life? I give you 24 hours to delete these pictures and apologise.”
@django_OG commented: “Is this supposed to be a joke? Reason why politicians don’t rate Nigeria youths.”
Others echoed similar sentiments, arguing that the post showed a lack of respect for Christianity.
@zeeks_official wrote: “The pinnacle of the Christian faith is what this boy is joking with.”
While some called for GehGeh to apologise, others used the opportunity to discuss the double standards in how religion is portrayed in entertainment.
@SeunGabrielO noted: “They find it easy to do it with Christianity, I dare him to do it with the other religion.”
As of the time of writing, GehGeh has not taken down the photos. The debate continues to stir mixed reactions online, with many calling for greater sensitivity when creating religious-themed content.
