Pay us or we won’t play, Super Eagles warn NFF ahead of next match

Super Eagles have warned that they will not travel to Marrakech for their next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against Algeria unless the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, clears all outstanding payments.

The demand centres on unpaid winning allowances for matches already played at the ongoing tournament, with players insisting that Super Eagles bonuses must be settled.

A reliable source within the team confirmed that players and officials are still waiting for their entitlements from earlier games. It was gathered that bonuses for matches against Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Mozambique remain unpaid.

According to the source, while the team remains committed to the competition, the players have made it clear that they will neither train nor move for the next match until the issue of Super Eagles bonuses is resolved.

This is not the first time such a situation is unfolding. In November, the team also threatened to boycott their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Gabon over similar unpaid entitlements. At the time, the squad issued a joint statement saying they were forced to suspend training in Morocco due to unresolved financial concerns.

With the AFCON campaign still ongoing, players insist they want respect for agreements made and timely fulfillment of obligations, stressing that Super Eagles bonuses are part of their rights as professionals.
