Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in his hometown of Ozubulu, Anambra State.

He registered as a member of the party on Saturday and was issued his membership card during the visit.

Zubby later confirmed the development on Instagram, sharing a video of the moment and writing:

“I dey my village enough of the talking online I don involve,”

In the video, a host suggested the actor could be interested in politics, hinting at a possible House of Representatives bid. Speaking in Igbo, he said:

“We want someone who is hot-blooded, not someone cool, who will go for a House of Representatives seat.”

Zubby Michael has not confirmed any political ambition.

The move has sparked reactions online, with some users linking it to opposition politics involving Labour Party figure Peter Obi, while others criticised celebrities supporting President Bola Tinubu.

The ADC has recently reported a surge in new memberships. Party spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi said registrations rose from over 40,000 to more than 500,000 within days, according to a statement posted on his X account on April 5.

Zubby Michael’s entry adds to growing celebrity involvement in Nigerian politics.
