Confusion broke out in a Lagos residential compound after a metal stand holding large plastic water tanks collapsed overnight and landed on a parked Lexus 350 and another vehicle.
The impact damaged both cars, breaking glass and spilling water across the compound. No injuries or deaths were recorded.
A resident, Maduabuchi, shared a 60-second video of the scene online. In it, he questioned whether the landlord should be held responsible for the damage.
“The question here is who will pay for damages??” one user commented.
Another wrote: “This issue have been reoccurring lately. And I feel landlord and tenants should pay more attention to it. The fabricators should see to it that they make use of standard and durable materials in fabricating these scaffolds – one that can withstand windy weather conditions.”

“Omo this one painful 😭 imagine coming out and seeing your car like this… hope he gets compensation,” another reaction read.
One user added: “Landlord go see my lawyer The End.”
“This is heartbreaking. In this Tinubu economy,” another comment said.
Under the Lagos State Tenancy Law 2011, landlords are responsible for maintaining structural parts of rented properties. Tenants may also seek compensation where negligence is proven.
The incident has renewed concerns about weak construction and unsafe water tank stands in residential buildings across Lagos.
