A traditional ruler has recounted how seven people allegedly lost their lives after resisting his ascension to the throne on the grounds that he was a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
The monarch, whose revelation has stirred public debate, explained that his clerical role in the church became the major point of contention during the succession process. According to him, some members of the community argued that his pastoral duties were incompatible with the sacred responsibilities of a traditional ruler.
He noted that despite strong opposition, he remained convinced that his calling as both a pastor and monarch could coexist. “They said I could not sit on the throne because I am a pastor in RCCG. But those who resisted God’s decision did not survive it. Seven of them died in the process,” he disclosed.

The monarch further insisted that his emergence as king was divinely ordained, adding that those who fought against his installation underestimated the spiritual dimension of the throne.
His revelation has since sparked conversations among religious leaders, traditional authorities, and community members, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the broader implications of merging religious and traditional leadership.
While some view his story as evidence of divine validation of his kingship, others have called for restraint in attributing deaths to spiritual causes, stressing the need for more transparent explanations in cases of succession disputes.
