Kylian Mbappé delivered a stellar performance as Real Madrid secured a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad in La Liga on Saturday, despite playing for an hour with 10 men following Dean Huijsen’s red card.
First-half goals from Mbappé and Arda Güler ensured Los Blancos maintained their perfect record this season, while Mikel Oyarzabal pulled one back for Sociedad from the penalty spot.
The win keeps Xabi Alonso’s side top of the table with 12 points from four matches, ahead of Athletic Bilbao, who face Alavés later, while champions Barcelona host Valencia on Sunday.
Madrid started brightly, with Güler having an early goal ruled out for offside. Mbappé broke the deadlock in the 12th minute, latching onto a loose back pass and showing trademark pace before finishing clinically for his fourth league goal of the season.

Their momentum was checked when Huijsen, signed from Bournemouth in the summer, was sent off for dragging back Oyarzabal. Despite the setback, Mbappé set up Güler to double Madrid’s lead before half-time.
Sociedad improved after the break and reduced the deficit when Oyarzabal converted a penalty following a Dani Carvajal handball. The hosts pressed for an equaliser, but Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois denied Oyarzabal twice.
Madrid held firm through six minutes of added time to seal a hard-fought win and preserve their unbeaten run.
