Liverpool’s premier league woes continue with 3-0 defeat to Forest

Nottingham Forest compounded Liverpool’s alarming Premier League slump with a commanding 3–0 victory at Anfield on Saturday, the visitors’ biggest-ever win on the ground and a result that dragged Arne Slot’s side deeper into crisis.

Forest took the lead when Murillo drilled home after Virgil van Dijk unintentionally diverted an Elliot Anderson corner into his path. Liverpool protested that Dan Ndoye was obstructing Alisson, but match officials ruled the Forest forward “was not in the line of vision and did not make an action that impacted an opponent.”

Moments after Igor Jesus had a potential second goal ruled out for handball, Forest doubled their lead. Former Liverpool defender Neco Williams spun away from his marker before setting up Nicolò Savona, who found the top corner with a precise finish.

Liverpool offered little in response. Alexander Isak endured another quiet outing before being substituted, and Slot’s attacking changes left the hosts increasingly exposed. Forest capitalised again late on when Alisson parried Omari Hutchinson’s strike into the path of Morgan Gibbs-White, who calmly fired home.

The defeat was Liverpool’s sixth in seven league matches, dropping them into the bottom half of the table and marking the first time since 1965 that the club has suffered consecutive league losses by a three-goal margin.

Forest manager Sean Dyche praised his team’s discipline, saying, “Our performance got stronger as the game went on. Tactically, we were excellent and never really looked threatened.” Slot admitted his side’s recurring flaws cost them again, adding that Liverpool must “defend transitions and set pieces far better” to halt their slide.
