2025 Autofest race

Lagos Island roads to be shut Sunday for 2025 Autofest race

The Lagos State Government has announced that Lagos Island roads shut temporarily on Sunday, December 21, 2025, to allow for the 7th Road Edition of the Lagos Autofest race.

The closure will affect key routes on the Island as the state prepares to host the high-profile motorsport event.

In a traffic advisory issued by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, vehicular movement will be restricted around Inner Marina, Marina Road, and Kakawa Street between 12:00 noon and 7:00 pm.

According to him, the race will begin at Marina Road (UBA), move through Kakawa Street, Balabina Street, Broad Street and Issah Williams Street, before ending at Inner Marina. During this period, Lagos Island roads shut along the race corridor to ensure smooth operations.

Osiyemi explained that all junctions and intersections along the route will be barricaded to guarantee the safety of racers, spectators and other road users. He added that officers from LASTMA, the Nigeria Police Force, FRSC and the Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps will be fully deployed to manage traffic and maintain order while Lagos Island roads shut for the event.

The commissioner urged motorists and residents to plan their movements ahead of time, use alternative routes where possible and cooperate with traffic officials, assuring that normal traffic flow will be restored immediately after the Autofest race concludes.
