Afrobeats singer, Okafor Uchenna Victor, better known as Mr Real, has criticised his colleagues and Nigerian music fans for continuing to release songs and frequent clubs despite rising insecurity in the country.
Speaking in a recent video broadcast, the “Legbegbe” crooner expressed concern over what he described as a growing disconnect between the nation’s security challenges and the entertainment scene.
According to him, the current state of the country has made it difficult for him to release new music.
“I wake up to terrible news everyday. I am even scared to drop songs because of the terrible things happening in Nigeria. Artists who are releasing songs are trying because I don’t know the kind of mind they have. How do some artists do it?” he said.

Mr Real also criticised the culture of nightlife amid the worsening situation, describing it as abnormal.
“This country is burning. People are dying. Some individuals have turned insecurity to business and we still go to club. That is the problem,” he added.
While acknowledging that people have the right to live their lives, the singer questioned the seeming indifference to the situation.
“You can argue that you have your own life to live. I also can’t deny that I don’t club or enjoy my life. But can’t you see that it is not normal? It is like we are under a spell to be docile no matter how worse things get. Is it normal?” he said.
