Grammy 2026: Chappell Roan X-rated outfit turns head at red carpet

Chappell Roan stole the spotlight at the 68th Grammy Awards on Sunday with a daring red carpet look. The singer arrived in a sheer, topless Mugler gown held by nipple rings, paired with a flowing cape and a dramatic back tattoo.

Styled by Genesis Webb, the dress was custom-made by Miguel Castro Freitas. Inspired by Mugler’s Spring–Summer 1998 couture collection, it featured a bodice-less chiffon design, a draped cowl neckline, and a long train. Roan finished the look with temporary back tattoos, a gold choker, smoky eyes, and copper-red curls.

Fans and social media users were quick to react. On X (formerly Twitter), one person wrote, “Red carpet moments are supposed to make people talk. Mission accomplished.” Another added, “Bro kids are watching this but I guarantee she doesn’t get charged.”

On Instagram, fans also praised the singer. “She looks absolutely beautiful. But oh gosh, please don’t step on the train,” one wrote. Another said simply, “I am obsessed!”

Roan, nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “The Subway,” also presented during the ceremony. Her dress recalled a Mugler runway look from 1998, where a model wore a similar backless, frontless design. Prosthetic nipples held the fabric in place, and the sheer cape gave her some coverage.

The 68th Grammys, hosted by Trevor Noah at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, celebrated the best music of 2025. Performances included Lady Gaga, Addison Rae, and Sabrina Carpenter. See full list of Grammy Award 2026 winners here.
