Newly released U.S. Department of Justice documents suggest Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates had extramarital affairs, according to emails allegedly written by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The emails, dated July 2013 and sent from Epstein’s own account to himself, claim he helped Gates get drugs “to deal with consequences of sex with Russian girls” and arranged trysts with married women. It is not clear if the emails were ever sent to Gates.
A spokesperson for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation denied the claims. “These claims – from a proven, disgruntled liar – are absolutely absurd and completely false,” the spokesperson said. “The documents only show Epstein’s frustration that he did not have a relationship with Gates and the lengths he would go to entrap and defame.”

Some emails suggest Epstein got involved in Gates’ marital disputes. One draft, written as a resignation from his advisory role at the Gates Foundation and think tank BG3, said he had been “caught up in a severe marital dispute between Melinda and Bill” and participated in activities he called “morally inappropriate to ethically unsound and potentially illegal.”
Gates has acknowledged knowing Epstein but called it “a huge mistake” in a 2021 CNN interview. He said his meetings were limited to dinners meant to solicit donations for the Gates Foundation. Gates’ former wife, Melinda French Gates, has cited his ties to Epstein as a factor in their 2021 divorce.
The newly released DOJ files also reference Tesla CEO Elon Musk in connection with Epstein. Emails suggest Musk communicated with Epstein about visiting his private island and attending social events, though Musk has previously said he did not know Epstein well.
The DOJ release is part of a large disclosure under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. It includes more than 3.5 million pages of documents, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images. The material also mentions other high-profile figures, including Elon Musk, Bill Clinton, and Ghislaine Maxwell.
