Drama as Sanku’s death sparks questions over unpaid Lexus SUV

Things just got messy in the comedy scene after the death of popular skitmaker Adetola Samad, aka Sanku. Content creator Folorunsho Olayinka, known as Finest, has come out with details, saying Sanku died in a loaned 2012 Lexus RX 350 SUV, a ride he was supposed to return to the dealer in Ilorin for a cheaper whip.

Finest, who stood as Sanku’s guarantor, explained that the late comedian had bought the Lexus for N25.4 million but had only paid N7 million upfront. Over time, Sanku chipped in installments, hitting about N12.28 million. “I was only a guarantor, the car dealer knew me, that’s why I helped. I wasn’t the one telling him to go to Ilorin. He asked for a driver, which I provided,” Finest said.

He added, “So what would I gain if someone who owed N13 million, for whom I was guarantor, got killed? I don’t even know the driver. I have all the voice notes of him thanking me for helping with the car.”

On the day of the crash, Finest said he sent his siblings and colleagues to the scene and even sent money for medical care after complaints that Sanku wasn’t treated immediately.

But the story has another side. One of Sanku’s friends, speaking anonymously, said the comedian was being pressured to swap the Lexus for a Nigerian-used Toyota Venza because he couldn’t clear the full fee, leaving N2.3 million unpaid.

In a WhatsApp voice note shared with our correspondent, Sanku mentioned that he was called several times to return the Lexus for the cheaper car, but his uncle—a policeman in Osogbo—warned him against it, fearing a scam.

Sanku earlier has a car accident along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State. Actor Yemi Elesho confirmed his passing on social media.

Just a few months before the accident, on June 6, 2025, Sanku had celebrated the Lexus on TikTok, posting pictures with the caption: “Alhamdullilah for life, congratulations Adetola,” tagging Finest as the dealer.

The whole drama has now left fans asking questions about the unpaid car and whether the pressure over the Lexus played any part in the tragedy.
