Ckay’s ‘love nwantiti’ hits 1 billion streams on Spotify

Ckay’s hit song “Love Nwantiti (ah ah ah)” has officially reached 1 billion streams on Spotify, making it one of the biggest Afrobeats songs ever. The achievement also makes it only the second Nigerian song in history to cross the billion-stream mark on the platform.

The track was first released in 2019, but it became a global sensation in 2021 after going viral on TikTok. Its soft melody and catchy “ah ah ah” hook helped it spread quickly across social media and into music charts around the world.

In an earlier interview, CKay said fans were the reason behind the song’s success. “People connected to the emotion of the song in ways we never imagined,” he noted.

With this milestone, CKay joins Rema and Tyla in Spotify’s exclusive Billions Club. Rema hit the mark first with his remix of “Calm Down” in 2023, while South Africa’s Tyla followed in 2025 with “Water.” Music analysts say CKay’s entry “shows how far Afrobeats has grown globally.”

“Love Nwantiti” is also breaking records outside of streaming platforms. It is now the most certified Nigerian song in U.S. history, earning 8x Platinum from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This puts it on track to possibly become the first Afrobeats song to go Diamond in the U.S.

The hit has collected major certifications in many other countries, including Diamond in France, 20x Platinum in India, and multiple Platinum awards across Europe.

The song also performed strongly on global charts. It reached No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200, and No. 3 on the UK Official Singles Chart, and went No. 1 in India, Norway, and Switzerland.

With its latest achievement, “Love Nwantiti” continues to stand as one of Afrobeats’ biggest success stories and a song that helped push African music deeper into the global mainstream.
