Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 2–1 defeat to Sporting CP on Tuesday night, marking their 300th European match and a painful milestone for the defending champions.
Luis Suárez was the hero for Sporting, scoring twice in the final 20 minutes. His first goal came in the 74th minute after Geny Catamo’s shot deflected into his path. PSG equalised five minutes later when substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia struck a “magnificent” curling shot into the top corner.
However, the home side sealed the win in the 90th minute. Suárez headed in the rebound after Lucas Chevalier could only parry Francisco Trincão’s shot. The late goal stunned PSG and sparked wild celebrations at Estádio José Alvalade.

PSG dominated possession, holding 78% at half-time, but they struggled to finish their chances. They thought they had taken the lead in the 30th minute when Warren Zaire-Emery headed in, but VAR ruled the goal out for a foul by Senny Mayulu.
The result raises concerns about PSG’s defence, especially goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who has now conceded 10 goals in six Champions League games.
PSG’s loss also puts their Champions League future in doubt. They could drop out of the top eight and be forced into the playoff round. A top-two finish now looks unlikely.
For Sporting, the win boosts their chances of progressing and moves them closer to a direct spot in the knockout stage.
