BTS make comeback with world tour, eye $1bn payday

K-pop superstars BTS have announced a 79-date world tour, their first global tour in four years. The band will perform in cities including London, Tokyo, Munich, Sydney, and Los Angeles.

The tour starts with three nights at Goyang Stadium in South Korea on 9 April 2026. It will then travel across Asia, Europe, and North America. Fans can expect a 360-degree stage, giving more seats and closer views.

The London shows are set for 6 and 7 July at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Other European stops include Paris, Madrid, Brussels, and Munich. BTS’ website said more dates in Japan, the Middle East, and other locations will be announced in 2027. Tickets go on sale to fan club members on 22 January and to the public two days later.

Billboard reports BTS and their label, BigHit/Hybe, could earn more than $1 billion (£740 million) from the tour, through tickets, merchandise, albums, streaming, and licensing. During BTS’ 2024 break, Hybe’s profits dropped nearly 37.5%, partly because of the hiatus.

The tour comes after rapper Suga finished his 18-month military service last June. He joins bandmates Jin, J-Hope, V, RM, Jung Kook, and Jimin for the comeback.

When BTS teased their return on Weverse last July, over seven million fans watched. Jimin wrote in a handwritten letter to fans, “The year we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived.” RM added, “We’ve waited more earnestly than anyone else.” Jung Kook promised, “My heart has always been the same. I’ll keep doing my best.” V said, “In 2026, we’ll make even more good memories, so look forward to it!”

The tour will also promote a new album recorded in Los Angeles, due on 20 March. RM said, “Making something ‘together’ with these friends, I’m going to commit myself to this moment… I’m looking for what I’ll become.” J-Hope added, “We each refined our own styles during solo projects. I think it’s going to be a massive energy.”

BTS concerts are famous for energetic dance routines, tight harmonies, and rap performances. After years away, tickets are expected to sell very fast, like Taylor Swift’s 2022 Eras Tour or Oasis’ 2024 reunion.
