Anthony Joshua crash, turning point of my career – Tyson Fury

Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has revealed that the tragic car crash involving Anthony Joshua served as a major turning point in his career decision.

Speaking ahead of his scheduled return to the ring, Fury said the incident changed his perspective on life and boxing.

According to him, the Anthony Joshua crash made him realise that tomorrow is never guaranteed, prompting him to end his 15-month absence from the sport.

Fury had previously announced his retirement after suffering back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. However, he confirmed that the Anthony Joshua crash deeply affected him and ultimately influenced his decision to lace up his gloves again.

“Tomorrow might not ever come,” Fury said, reflecting on the tragedy. “The Anthony Joshua crash was the biggest turning point in this comeback for me. You should never put things off.”

The 37-year-old is now set to face Arslanbek Makhmudovbon April 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, marking yet another comeback in his rollercoaster career.

Beyond the personal motivation, Fury also insisted he is returning to restore excitement to heavyweight boxing, claiming the sport has lost some glamour since his departure.

With the Anthony Joshua crash reshaping his outlook, Fury says he is determined to “rewrite his story” and make his latest chapter count.
